My portrait of Steve. A couple months ago I enrolled in Kris Costa's class and set out to create a hyper-real portrait of my own. https://www.artstation.com/kriscosta
This project was a giant learning experience but I really enjoyed the process and the satisfaction in making all of the elements. I took on the challenge of creating everything by hand as I whole-heartedly agree with Kris's approach and outlook on creating personal works.
This is a tribute to Steve Jobs, a personal hero of mine who's actions ended up having a big impact on me. Kris suggests choosing someone of personal importance because after 100 hours of tweaking peach fuzz on someone, you better really like what you're working on. This project wasn't about speed, it was about the journey of making all the aspects myself and the growth that would require. Wiping out sections of hand placed pores because they weren't right and re doing them was painful at times but the satisfaction in the end was well worth it.
